Holidays!

So, we were travelling to Corpus Christi on December 24th. The flight went from Toronto through Atlanta to Corpus Christi.

With the winter storm, there were few flight cancellations. The flight from Toronto was only 2 hours late in departing. By the time we got to Atlanta, we were already about an hour late for the connecting flight. It took 2 hours in the lineup to find out that the flight from Atlanta to Corpus Christi was cancelled (They had gotten 6 inches of snow that day. To put that in perspective, Corpus Christi received 2 inches of snow in 96 years before that *total*) We were fully expecting a night at the airport, but Delta gave us not only free vouchers for food, but also for two nights’ stay at an Inn.

By the time we managed to get to Corpus Christi, it was December 26th (and the luggage didn’t arrive for another day). It was inconvenient… but also kinda fun. I guess it all builds character. At least we weren’t flying ComAIR - we could’ve been completely screwed.

Anyway, I’ve been sitting here fixing computers for the last 3 days. Finally fixed the last computer - hopefully they’ll last a while. Just in case, though, I enabled Remote Assistant/Login so that I can easiliy fix it even if it’s completely broken… again… :p

New Cameras!

Present from Lily Right is my second picture taken with the Digital Rebel. Lily’s friend’s cousin works for Canon, so I got a great deal on it (as well as one on Canon S410)

After working on my report on the crane, I helped Lily pack and drove her back home. Today was probably one of the worst conditions that I’ve driven in. On the way there, my car ran out of windshield fluid making it almost impossible to see the road at times. On the way back, I actually saw about half an inch of snow on the 401. There were two tracks, maybe about a foot wide, of clean area with snow covering almost everything else. Hitting the snow, even with a SUV, made driving very interesting, especially coupled with lumbering transport trucks, poor visibility, blowing snow, and snow on the road. About 30cm of snow is expected by tomorrow, so if school’s closed, maybe I’ll just walk around and take some pictures instead. :D Or maybe I’ll just walk to school tomorrow… and take some pictures when I’m there. Snow has the tendency to make everything pretty.

It’s amazing how fast the time goes. Before you know it, it’s already Christmas and the term is over.

Labs and Projects

[Ed: Apparently this was suppose to be published almost a year ago… It was sitting there as a Draft until I imported it to WordPress]

My time over last week was more or less evenly separated between the solar car and the ece354 project. 4 day long extended weekend went by in the blink of an eye, though we did make good progress in both the solar car and the OS project.

Anyway, the ece 324 lab has this really sharp metal thing sticking out underneat the table. Since I tend to sit cross legged when I’m sitting down for extended period of time, I’m always banging my knee against it, causing a cut. Every day I’ve been in that lab, I ended up with a gash on my knee. :( Today, it was bleeding rather a lot so I put a band-aid on it - BAD IDEA! I was just taking it off and now I have these tiny red bumps all around where the hair got pulled off. :( Ouch! Next time, I’ll just let it bleed out. :p

Because all the work I’ve done on real time operating system project and solar car (and partially because my inability to concentrate after midterms), I’m rather behind in everything now. I guess I better get down and start working on them.

I’m back!

I guess it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here. I had an interesting summer which included travelling 15070km with a solarcar… and lots more happening in the 3 months inbetween now and then.

Finally got around to ditching MovableType and moving over to WordPress. I was contemplating whether I should just write my own blogging system… but bah, I’ll just go along with more mainstream solution instead. :)

I’ll start to update it with something other than the default skin… and with some actual content… soon… I promise!
