*Sniff* Lost my ring

I lost my Iron Ring today. I think it must’ve fallen off when I took my gloves off to get my car keys. I walked around everywhere trying to find it, but by then, there was another inch of snow on the ground… :( It didn’t help that I was running around jumping into snow banks and generally horsing around with Chris P - it could’ve fallen anywhere between Engineering quad and the UWP parking lot, or somewhere around Morty’s.

Well, now I know I should’ve gotten a smaller size. Well, I guess I’ll go get a new one tomorro… the refitting is tomorrow at 4PM.

The sun just slipped its note below my door…

The sun just slipped its note below my door
And I can’t hide beneath my sheets
I’ve read the words before so now I know
The time has come again for me

And I’m feelin’ the same way all over again
Feelin’ the same way all over again
Singin’ the same lines all over again
No matter how much I pretend…

I’ve been listening to a lot of Norah Jones over the last couple of days. It seems… somehow appropriate. I feel like I’m stuck in this place where you’re trying to move but your limbs are not responding to your commands, just like in those dreams where you’re being chased somewhere and you can’t move the way you want to. Maybe it’s due to general uncertaintly about the future, maybe it’s just general stress of some of the recent happenings, maybe it’s the weather… In any case, it definitely hasn’t been a good reading 2 days. 2 days really isn’t enough to be able to really relax, and I ended up wasting a lot of time doing nothing at all. I guess the biggest monkey wrench that was thrown in was the ECE687 exam on March 1st. I had completely forgotten the fact that February has only 28 days, so I thought there still was like a week left to study… but no, exam’s tomorrow.

I’ve been dreaming with some regularity lately - that means I’m getting too much sleep, heh :) This morning in the dream, I was at some kind of mall or shopping area of some sort. I walked out and found a parking ticket on my windshield… so I put it in my pocket and drove out of the lot when I realized I forgot to do something. I drove back, parked the car, then walked into this Doctor’s office where I was told to sit down and fill out a questionnaire… I started writing it down, but I had a lot of problems actually being able to write anything legible… and then I started worrying about the fact that my car would be ticketed again because the previous parking ticket was in my jacket pocket. So there I was, sitting in a waiting room, filling out a questionnaire with short little itty bitty pencil, worrying that my car would be ticketed for parking violation. Any armchair Freud want to take a shot at explaining this dream?

Maybe I just need to relax more, take things in stride, not worry so much about everything that’s going around… or maybe I should just sleep less so I wouldn’t have to deal with dreams at all. I guess the second solution is easier…

The Greatest Saturn Portrait

Looking at things like The Greatest Saturn Portrait… Yet makes me awed by the awesome beauty and splendour of the world around us. Don’t you ever look around and look at the wonders that surrounds you and question whether random selection could’ve brough together something so amazing and wonderful? :)

Bobby has an interesting point on the whole Missile Shield issue. After reading through the news articles that are out there… I guess I’m in complete agreement with Bobby here. One of the things that really confuse me is people’s hatred of USA - you have to stand ground where you must, but you also need to take advantage of them and work with them when that’s to your advantage. This rabid hatred of everything American is counter-productive, counter-intuitive, and just plain silly.

But politicians must do what politicians must do, I suppose. That’s the one thing I miss about Jean Chretien - for all his faults, he was a leader, willing to press on with his ideas and beliefs. Paul Martin, on the other hand (and even taking into account the fact that he’s leading a minority government), seems like just another politician, ruled by the opinion polls and the latest hack that’s getting attention by the mass media…

IRS

Iron RingSo, I guess IRS came and went… just like that. The pictures that I took can be found here, though I unfortunately forgot to bring my camera to the Iron Ring Stag, so I only have the photos from the Champagne Breakfast and the Craziness that ensued afterwards.

It was fun. I was surprisingly excited about something that I didn’t expect to get excited about. I guess it’s partly because it’s the beginning of the end.

To-do List

  • Buy ECE428 Lecture Notes
  • Bind ECE484 Lecture Notes
  • Make changes to 484 Lab1 userintf.vi file
  • Submit 484 Lab1 (server’s down!) (Yay, server came back up!)
  • Pickup new key for EIT3111 Room
  • Drop off the crane report for Dr. Aplevich
  • Call Sethi at NGM
  • Take care of misc. Solar Car business
  • Finish ECE486 Project
  • To go scotiabank and change some US$ to CAD$

Hmm… Pretty good for only 1:15PM… but I keep thinking whether I’m forgetting anything… I swear there was something else that needed to be done… D’oh! I really should write things down when I remember stuff that needs to be done.

Congratulations Lawrence!

Probably most of you who reads this and goes to Waterloo knows it already, but Lawrence won the election - he’ll be the next VP Internal for FEDS. Congratulations! :D

He’s starting to put some of his thoughts about the campaign down on paper (electronic paper, that is) - the top 10 things learned from the election.

3 Days to IRS!

It’s only 3 days to IRS!

I had my third midterm yesterday for ECE428, computer organization. The midterm was one of those exams full of tricks that you have no idea how you did… Maybe you’ve got most of the tricks? Or maybe you missed a whole bunch and bombed it? Ah well, it’s done and over with. Since my next midterm is on March 1st, this means that I’m free! IRC and IRS is next week, then I have reading week (where week is defined as 2 days) where I’ll be able to finally work on some electrical stuff for the solar car.

I still have a lot of stuff on my plate. This morning, I finished 3 business proposals for the solar car team which means I have 1 more to go, for the time being. I have to get 2 projects finished for this weekend, start on my ECE687 report on force control, work on solar car’s electrical side of things, and get some homework done that had been neglected over the last little while… But so far, it’s manageable. :) Oh yeah, the Aerobody was cut today, so here are some pictures. :)

I upgraded to WordPress 1.5. It took me a while to get everything back to normal but it’s looking good now. Hopefully it’ll do a little better job on spamming control. I’ve already got couple of trackback spams, so the verdict is still out on that.

Anyhoo, back to LaTeX and control systems…
