Secrets of Waterloo

And sorry I could not travel both/And be one traveler...I’ve completely updated my Photo Gallery and added whole bunch of new photos… So please feel free to browse through :D

After a hard game of squash (where I beat Phil! yay! :) ) and swimming, Phil and I decided to go try Yukiko’s Cafe Bistro, which was suppose to have great desserts. It has that slightly laid-back, homey feel to it… which was little different and definitely felt nice. I had ham and roasted red pepper sandwich which wasn’t too bad… but the best part of Yukiko’s was the cakes and pastries that they have. I had a cake called Turkish Delight, which was a dark chocolate cake that looked dense but surprisingly lightly melted in my mouth. We couldn’t figure out what the secret was, so we asked the waitress there… Apparently that cake does not use any flour whatsoever - everything is made just with chocolate! No wonder it tasted soooooo good! We’ve been searching for a good dessert place in Waterloo for 5 years, and it seems like we’ve finally found one!

Right next door to Yukiko’s, we saw a Tea place and an Art supply store. The tea place - called Distinctly Tea - was another gem. Just walking in to the store makes you feel relaxed and good from all the aromas. I picked up a bag of “Chocolate Cream Tea” and “Earl Grey de la Creme”. Chocolate Cream tea is tasty and flavourful… but Earl Grey de la Creme… it’s simply superb! It’s premium Earl Grey tea with a hint of almond and creme. Before this, my favourite tea was the Lady Grey from Twinnings… and it simply cannot compete. Earl Grey de la Creme has the dark tea surrounded by milky creaminess and a touch of fruitiness… It’s amazing! Let me know if you want some, I’ll brew some for you. :D And the art supply store was also very interesting - we were looking at like thousand different types of papers…

Anyway, I’m just disappointed that it took me 5 years to find these places… If you’re in Waterloo, definitely check those places out!
