Sugar Power

I’ve been busily studying and working on my force control simulation project over the last little while. I’m completely stuck on the simulation part (I can’t seem to figure out how to create world constraints (like a wall) to robot to bump against, and the created model doesn’t really seem to correspond to my hand calculations. If you have any experience whatosever with Matlab SimMechanics, please let me know) but the studying part is progressing slowly. My last exam on Robotics went pretty well… and my next exam is in 6.5 hours. Shouldn’t be that bad… :)

Anyway, during this last (and final!) round of exams, I’ve been feeling a little distant… I keep falling asleep, I have difficulties focusing, and all that good stuff. At least I haven’t started reading 700 page novels during the exam time like I did back in 3B, but maybe that’s preferable to this “I have no idea where all the time is going” situation…

I’ve given it some thought, though, and I think I know the reason for my being this way! It’s gotta be the lack of sugar. In previous exam periods, I went through stupid amounts of sugar, in form of 1.5kg back of mini marshmallows, pounds of cookies, and bags of Tastations. This time, nothing. Well, occasional cup of tea, but that’s about it.

Who knows, maybe all this means that I need to increase my sugar consumption… or maybe it just means I’m getting sick and tired of it all…

More showings

Another house showing later today, and two more later in the week… and it hasn’t even been 12 hours since the listing went up (and the sign out front isn’t even on yet!). Wow, I really underestimated how lively the Waterloo market is.

MLS Listing

MLS Listing is finally up.

I was kicked out from the house this morning because someone wanted to see the house already… Hopefully it’ll get sold soon. :D

C is for Cookie

Cookie MonsterHow what starts with the letter C?
Cookie starts with C!
Let’s think of other things that start with C!
Ah, ah! who cares about the other things!

C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me!
C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me!
C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me!
Oh! Cookie Cookie Cookie Starts with C! Oh!

C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me!
C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me!
C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me!
Oh! Cookie Cookie Cookie Starts with C!

Hey you know what?
A round cookie with one bite out of it looks like a C!
A round donut with one bite out of it also looks like a C, but it is not as good as a cookie!
And the moon sometimes looks like a C, but you can’t eat that!

C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me!
C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me!
C is for Cookie, that’s good enough for me!
Oh! Cookie Cookie Cookie Starts with C! Yeah!
Oh! Cookie Cookie Cookie Starts with C! Oh boy!
Oh! Cookie Cookie Cookie Starts with C!

Okay, my brain is officially fried.

House is listed

The house is finally on the market now, with the price of $319,900. It’s been a fun 4 years, lots of interesting memories, but I guess that aspect of my life is over now.

I was surprised at how much the commission was! :-O It was surprisingly high! No wonder there are so many Realtors around. She said the market is pretty good, so hopefully I’ll be able to sell it at a good price soon. :)

Insightful Articles

This article on gay marriage (which does not support one view over another, but does make you stop for a second and really think) is one of the most insightful article that I’ve read in a long, long time. Last time I read an article and felt so mentally engaged was when I read John Perry Barlow’s The Economy of Ideas which I first came across about 5 years ago, and was written more than a decade ago. Hmm, maybe I’m turning into a closet libertarian. :P

Well, the main reason why I’m posting this is because I don’t want to just bookmark it somewhere and lose it along the way… so if I put it here, it’ll be more likely for me to find the link again… and maybe some of you can sit down and read too. :)

Spring is here, but it’s snowing again… How Canadian!

Duck! Here’s a picture of a very friendly duck who didn’t mind my camera being right up against it… But after the picture, he Quack!ed and waddled away. Just something different, since I’ve had several shots of canadian geese lately, one of which managed to get on the Daily Bulletin.

My future situation is kinda working itself out. I’ve talked to Prof. Aplevich and he said he will have the funding to give me a Research Assistantship if I didn’t get OGS, which now tilts the grad work toward him. I’ve been looking at different research available and it looks like I’ll be working toward doing more theoretical side of things… As for full time work, I’ve ruled it out for the moment, although I may end up working there over the summer and perhaps in part-time basis if it works out with them.

I had my security interview for clearance to let me into a sponsoring company so that we could test the batteries for the car. It was surprisingly easy and brief… heh, maybe it’s a Canada thing. :) Solar car is slowly progressing, though I think we’re definitely behind schedule now… There’s 40 odd days left, and still the entire car that needs to be built…

One of the things that’s been in back of mind is something to possibly start (or restart, I suppose) a company and a business. I’ve been toying with an idea that may have some merit and could have some interesting applications… and I can already think of a way to promote it and a possibly way to sell it… :)

I’ve removed my link to wordpress.org as a result of some fishy spamming business… I guess I’ll try to read up on it and figure out what exactly is going on with this.
